How is Farmacule's research program funded?
Farmacule is an Australian biotechnology research and development company.
The company was formed to raise private equity to develop a molecular farming industry with intellectual property developed at Queensland University of Technology's Centre for Molecular Biotechnology.
An AusIndustry Biotechnology Innovation Fund grant was awarded to Farmacule in November 2001. The company recently closed a private equity raising managed by an Australian investment bank ORBIT CAPITAL, to provide matching funding and additional working capital.
Farmacule's shareholders include QUT, a key group of plant molecular biologists, and a group of private investors arranged by ORBIT CAPITAL.
With the support of ORBIT CAPITAL, Farmacule intends to raise additional private equity during the ensuing year and will consider an initial public offering within a two-year time frame.
Farmacule also intends to generate several revenue streams through out-licensing opportunities.
